As a senior photographer, I’m always on the hunt for new and interesting places to shoot. Once I’ve found a place I like, I’ve been sharing them here on my blog as helpful resources for my clients.
In this post, I'm sharing four senior picture locations in the Columbus, Ohio, area that I haven’t shared before. For each spot, I’ll share photos I’ve taken there and some of the perks of that location.

At the end of this blog, I’m linking some of my other favorite locations to get you inspired for your senior photos! We’ll start with the location closest to my studio, which is Alum Creek Dam.
Senior Picture Locations in Columbus, Ohio
1. Alum Creek Dam in Lewis Center, Ohio
Alum Creek Dam is a popular spot for senior photos year-round, and for good reason. It has so many different sections to work around, making it a great one-stop location for variety.
One side of Alum Creek has a parking lot and beach access, which is perfect if you want a mix of lake and sky. The other side has a dam, open fields, wildflowers, trails, and tall grasses, where we took Olivia’s photos.
The view from the top of the dam is gorgeous - the entire beach is visible. So if you’re looking for a session showing more wide-open landscape, we can make that happen here.
Overall, this location is pretty easy and accessible to get around. But it does require a bit of walking, so keep that in mind when you’re choosing which shoes to wear.
2. Orange Township Hall Park in Lewis Center, Ohio
Orange Township Hall Park is a little hidden gem, especially if you’re looking for a place that’s small and easy to walk. The park has lots of trees, a nice pond area, a gazebo, newer trails, tree-lined paths, and some really cool rocks scattered throughout. It also has the added bonus of restroom facilities to allow for easy outfit changes if needed.
The overall vibe here is a bit more rough and rugged than a typical park with flowers, which worked out nicely for Draylen’s photos. If you’re a senior at Olentangy Orange High School and want senior photos taken nearby, this spot is perfect.
3. Broadway Street in Granville, Ohio
For Addison’s senior photos, we started in her hometown of Granville, Ohio right on Broadway. This cute village has the typical small-town charm with really cool architecture and vintage details.
The streets are lined with quaint shops, charming doorways, brick walls, rustic staircases, trees, benches, and so much more. It’s easy to get around and not too busy. We shot Addison’s photos in the middle of the day, and it wasn’t crowded at all.
If you want senior photos that have a little more small-town character and sophistication, explore Granville, Ohio. It’s filled with endless photo opportunities.
4. Sharon Woods Metro Park in Westerville, Ohio
Sometimes, it's all about convenience. And that's exactly why Evelyn chose Sharon Woods Metro Park for some of her senior photos. And can you believe these were taken on a brisk fall day in October?!
Sharon Woods offers a mix of meadows, trees, fields, wildflowers, tall grasses, and a dock overlooking a lake. You really can’t go wrong with this location.
If you want an outdoor location with these features, just about any of the Columbus Metro parks will do. But if you’re wanting to stay close to the Westerville area, Sharon Woods is a great option.
Fortunately, there is no shortage of gorgeous outdoor locations for senior pictures in Columbus.
